Marlene J. McArthur's Obituary
Mrs. Marlene Joan McArthur, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. She was born May 3, 1937 to Peter and Thelma (Buys) Swain in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Marlene married Larry McArthur on July 6, 1957 and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2006. Marlene was an avid reader and crossword puzzle player. She enjoyed spending time outdoors snowmobiling, camping, and riding motorcycles. She was a big animal lover, especially riding horses. Marlene could be found cheering on the Detroit Red Wings and would even drive up to Traverse City during the training season to camp out for tickets. Marlene will be missed by her children, Kelly (John) Borgman and Amie (Adam) Rogalla; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband of 49 years, Marlene was also preceded in death by her son, Scott McArthur; and siblings, Harold Swain, Patricia Farkas and Bonnie Bowcamp. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30AM Saturday, September 19 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 9:30-10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Hospice would be appreciated.
