Marlene F. Jurkas' Obituary
On May 7, 2008, Marlene F. Jurkas went home to her Lord. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long illness. Marlene was born on August 20, 1931 to George and Louella “June” (Thompson) Schroeder. She attended Coopersville and Muskegon Public Schools. Miss Marlene taught dance to many children for 30 years and was co-owner of Crescent Dance Studios. On September 2, 1950 she married John James Jurkas and together they had four children, George (Liz) Jurkas, Gwen Gutowski, John (Cindy) Jurkas, and Julie Jurkas. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, Katherine, James, Jeff, John, Kristopher, Krystina, Taylor, and Madison. Her husband John preceded her in death on August 27, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Arlen Schroeder. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a MEMORIAL MASS held 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church – Marian Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hackley Visiting Nurse Services – Hospice.
