Martalle "Martha" Swiftney's Obituary
Martalle “Martha” Swiftney, age 87, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at home. She was born August 25, 1930 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, to Beryl and Annie Mintz. She then married Kenneth J. Swiftney, Sr. on May 12, 1954, in All Peoples United Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2014.
Martha was a member of First Reformed Church in Grand Haven. She especially enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and was active in Cub Scouts, when her sons were in scouts.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Murray (Blandean) Swiftney of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews, in both Canada and Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth J. Swiftney, Jr. in 2005, five sisters: Lela Linley, Fannie Phillips, Molly Feltham, Dora Varrin, and Sally Arthurs; and one brother, Max Mintz.
A memorial service for Martha will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel with Rev. John Koedyker officiating. Interment was held in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or First Reformed Church are appreciated.
