Martha Messenger's Obituary
Martha E. Messenger, age 93, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015. She was born July 28, 1922 to Harry and Mabel (Johnson) Dreese in Ferrysburg. On September, 23, 1939 she married Emory Messenger who preceded her in death in 2009. Martha was a faithful member at Trinity Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she was a faithful member and served as a deaconess for many years. She loved to sew clothing and quilts and to travel in the continental US with her husband. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Sharon) Messenger; grandchildren, Andrea (Isaac) Moffett, William (Kathy) Messenger, Emory (Debbie) Messenger, Veronica (Robert) Christener, Donald Crum, Janet Stewart, Sue (David) Nichols; 20 great-grandchildren; 19 great great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna (Tom) McKay. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and two sisters. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Martha will be held at Trinity Baptist Church (4381 S. Sheridan Dr.) on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM. VISITATION with the family will be held an hour prior to the service at church. A donation in Martha’s name can be made to either Trinity Baptist Church or Baldwin Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100).
