Martin Anthony Lajeunesse's Obituary
Mr. Martin Anthony Lajeunesse, age 79, passed away at his home in Muskegon on Friday, September 15, 2023. He was born in Cohoes, New York on October 16, 1943 to Louis and Evelyn (Vogel) Lajeunesse and was raised in Waterford, New York. Martin was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Bien Hoa where he served as a chef and night baker. Following his service, Martin moved to Texas where he worked as an appliance technician. In his younger years, Martin enjoyed playing sports. He continued to enjoy watching sports throughout his life, and remained a NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. Martin loved cooking, baking, canning, making his own recipes and sharing recipes. He will be remembered fondly as being a prankster with a good sense of humor. He liked to tell people he used to be in the CIA because he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, CT in 1966. Most importantly, Martin loved his family and loved surprising his wife with roses. On April 24, 1987, he married the former Rosemary Racine and she survives him along with children, Victoria (Shannon) Smith, Bernadette (James) Slack, Wayne (Megan) Lajeunesse, John (Nicole) Matala, Jeremy (Christine) Matala, and Holly Cipperley; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Harold) Skiff; and brother, Louis (Debbie) Lajeunesse. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Lajeunesse; and sister, Sandra Banaszewski. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Elevation of Grace Church (1520 East Broadway, Muskegon, MI) with Pastor Johnathan Jewett officiating.
