Mr. Martin L. O'Toole's Obituary
Martin L. O’Toole, age 84, of Muskegon, Michigan passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, October 31, 2012. Martin was born March 22, 1928 to Thomas P. and Virginia E. (Martin) O’Toole. He voluntarily served his country from 1946-1948 in the U.S. Army and then graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1954 with a BS in civil engineering. He married twice: the former Genevieve Szczesny (1957-1976; until her death) and Betty Turner (1979.) Martin was a registered professional engineer, working for the Michigan Department of Transportation from 1954 to 1989. He was an avid golfer, bridge player, and trout fisherman. Devoted to his family, he is survived by his son, Martin of Muskegon; daughter, Molly O’Toole of Lombard, Illinois; grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick and Mary Kurtz; son-in-law, Rob Kurtz; brother, Michael; sister, Virginia, sisters-in-law, Patricia and Nancy; and many nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL MASS will be held at the same church in which he was baptized, St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church, 1292 Jefferson Street, Muskegon at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 3, with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jean’s Church or the charity or food bank of your choice (such as the American Red Cross, etc.).
