Martin Carl Strang's Obituary
Martin Carl Strang, age 74, of West Olive passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at home. He was born February 21, 1942, in Big Rapids, to Versil Verden and Edith Elsie (Martin) Strang.
Marty served his country in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam war. He graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1960, and Michigan State University in 1964, with degrees in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. He worked for 33 years as Grounds Superintendent at Hope College. He was active with the Tri-Cities Historical Museum in Grand Haven. He loved railroad history and artifacts, enjoyed geneology, family history, and horticulture.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Richard (Sheila) Strang of Harrison, MI; nephew, Jason (Keli) Masten of Kentwood; and great-niece, Zoey Masten; great-nephew, Zander Masten; and many cousins and family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial open house will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven.
