Marva J. (Gudelsky) Christmas' Obituary
On November 15, Marva J. Christmas, 86, married to Charles “Bud” Christmas, went to be with the Lord, she passed away from natural causes, at her home, surrounded by her family. Marva dedicated her life to serve and love others; she was caring and supportive of all those in not only her family but her extended family; her selflessness and her dedication to building strong principles in all those she touched in her life will continue on. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. One of Marva’s most treasured memories was the honor of being crowned Miss Freedom Queen in 1949 by the Governor. In addition to other community participations, Marva took pride in managing the catering at the Muskegon Yacht Club for numerous years. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She was born March 1, 1931 to Benjamin and Gretchen (Herrendeen) Gudelsky in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Marva is survived by her 7 daughters, Judith (Dan Luebke) Bernard, Shelley (Gary) Bernard-Nelson, Carol Bernard, Laura (Michael) Webster, Kristin (Karl) Rylands, Bonnie (Kelly) Compton, Jennifer Tousey; grandchildren, Kevin, Ryan, Stacy (Marc), Lindsay (Mike), Savannah, Tyler, Samantha, Jordan, Connor and Sean; several great and great- great-grandchildren; step-children, Fred Christmas, Timothy (Kristy) Christmas, Christina Christmas, Linda (Jeff) Wiersema, Mark Christmas; 3 sisters, Maxine Hancock, Dorothy George and Nancy Gudelsky Wright; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 7 sisters, her husbands, Frank Bernard and Gordon Tousey. A time to gather and visit with the family will be Wednesday, November 22, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the Viking Lodge, 3132 Lakeshore Dr., Muskegon. Marva was very active at the Berean Church and Contributions in memory of Mrs. Christmas may be made to the Berean Church of Norton Shores or the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
