Marvin E. Yonker's Obituary
Marvin E. Yonker, age 80, passed away at home with his family around him on October 3, 2017. He was born on June 8, 1937 to Henry and Dorothy (Kansfield) Yonker in Muskegon. Marv worked 34 years as a machinist at Muskegon Piston Ring prior to retiring in 1992. He then drove a school bus for Ravenna and Coopersville schools for 6 years. Marv loved his farm, fishing, sporting events and spending time with his family. On September 27, 1958 he married Leona Rae Wilson in Manistee, Michigan and they recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. She survives him along with 5 children, Lee (Jo) Yonker, David (Jennie) Yonker, Bruce (Sharon) Yonker, Deb (Mike) Karr and Dan Yonker; 5 grandchildren, Kristin (Tim) Bunker, Brandon Yonker, Emilie Yonker, Jason Karr and Ashlee Karr; 2 great-grandchildren, Hailey Bunker, Abigale Bunker; along with many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Elaine Diesing. Marv was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter and William; and sister, Anna Clark. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 2PM to 4PM at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Ravenna Lions Club, Ravenna Fire Department or the Harbor Hospice Foundation. A private burial will take place at Ravenna Cemetery.
