Marvin A. Downs, Sr.'s Obituary
Marvin A. Downs, age 68, of Baldwin (formerly of Spring Lake) passed away Monday, December 1, 2008, at Spectrum’s Reed City Hospital. He was born November 26, 1940, to George Washington and Mary Edith (Baynton) Downs in Muskegon Heights.
Marvin was a life member and former trustee of the Grand Haven Eagles Lodge and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was formerly employed at Story & Clark and moved to the Baldwin area 18 years ago.
Survivors include three sons: Marvin (Anna) Downs of Coopersville, Daniel (Jill) Downs of Spring Lake, and Kevin Downs of Grand Haven; six grandchildren: Josh, Amanda, Tabitha, Tristan, Kimberly, Kirsten; three great-grandchildren: Felicia, Antonio, Marcus; 2 sisters, Gladys (George) Langlois of Nunica and Donna DeCan of Spring Lake, a step-brother Bill (Elsie) Meridith and a step-sister Pattie Meridith, both of Grand Haven; also a special friend and companion, Cindy Green. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Judy, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may meet the family 6-8 p.m.Thursday, December 4, 2008, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake where a scripture service for Marvin will be held at 7:45 p.m. with Rev.
