Marvin D. Thompson's Obituary
Mr. Marvin D. Thompson, age 79, died Friday, July 25, 2008 in Muskegon. He was born February 18, 1929 in Hesperia to Roy and Eva (Fairchild) Thompson, and resided in the West Michigan area for all of his life. Marvin was a Veteran of the US Army, and Police Chief of Hesperia from 1960-1965. He also was a carpenter and builder in the area for many years. Marvin had a love for fishing and gardening. On February 15, 1975 he married the former Carol Carlson in Muskegon, and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Cheryl (John) Kraley and Toni (Jim) Keck both of Muskegon; 5 step-children, Teresa (Lloyd) Tibbs of Muskegon, Donna Sarber of Rothbury, Bill (Kathy) Sarber, Bob Sarber and Susan (Marcos) Sarber-Olivares all of Muskegon; 20 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bud (Vonni) Thompson and Raymond (Laurie) Thompson both of Hesperia; and sister, Gloria (Beauford) Way of Hesperia. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mae Allen. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 1 PM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 with Rev. Richard Mead officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 12-1 PM.
