Marvin H. ("Tuffy" or "Archie") Archer's Obituary
Mr. Marvin H. Archer, age 73, died Thursday morning, September 17, 2009 at VNS Hospice House. He was born May 10, 1936 in East Jordan, MI to William & Iva Irene (Bingham) Archer and has resided in the Muskegon area since the age of sixteen. Mr. Archer had been employed at S.D. Warren / Sappi for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1998. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church. He loved boating, fishing, his animals and garden. Marvin also loved bowling and more recently Wii bowling; but especially he loved football and even ‘more football’. But most of all he loved his family. This is what was the most important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lois; 2 sons, Scott and Michael Archer; 4 brothers, Bill,Jr., LaVern, Frank and Robert and by his sister, Marge Gifford. On April 7, 1973 he married the former Maurlene Anderson and she survives him along with 6 children, Bryan (Pam) Archer of Muskegon, Diane (Edward) Jannenga of North Muskegon, Ronald (Leigh Ann) Archer, Janet Archer and Judith Archer, all of Muskegon, and Melissa Hood of Indianapolis, IN; 12 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Virginia (Art) Biehl of Mancelona, MI, his twin-sister, Margaret Drost of Charlevoix, MI and by many nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 24, 2009, at First Christian Reformed Church (1450 Catherine Ave.) with Pastor Mike Borgert officiating. Final Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W.
