Mary Ann Cooper's Obituary
Mary Ann Cooper, age 97, passed away Thursday morning, June 22, 2023. She was born March 15, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI to Carl and Henrietta (Kulikamp) VanWestenberg. Mary Ann lived in Allendale and Grand Haven prior to her moving to the Muskegon area in 1944. On July 7, 1953, she married Henry Cooper in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1991. Mary Ann worked as a secretary for 11 years at E.H. Sheldon and Company. She was a faithful member of the former Fifth Reformed Church, now called Discovering Christ Church, where she was active in Hannah Circle, Coffee Break, and Ladies Guild. She was also active in Project Philip for over 30 years through the Bible League. She also loved genealogy and family history. Mary Ann is survived by two children: Jan Cooper and Larry (Kristi) Cooper both of Muskegon; and one grandson, James (Carmen Lu) Cooper of New York City, NY. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mark Cooper in 1997. According to her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held and she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Henry, in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. A memorial service for Mary Ann will be held at Christian Care Assisted Living in the Chapel for residents, staff, and family on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
