Mary Ann K. Stephenson's Obituary
Mary Ann K. Stephenson (Hodits), age 80, departed this earth and joined her husband, Russell, in heaven on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home in Fremont, Michigan. Mary Ann was born December 3, 1941, in Muskegon, Michigan to Rudolph (Rudy) and Rose (Gerencer) Hodits. She married Russell E. Stephenson on April 25, 1959, and they became proud parents in October of 1960 to their one and only son, Timothy. She even wrote in her wedding memory book about how the best 1st anniversary present was knowing they were going to have a baby. She loved her family more than anything. Mary Ann attended Sacred Heart and Muskegon Catholic Central. After she was married and Tim went to school, she went on to college at Muskegon Community College, later she went on to Grand Valley State University for her bachelor’s degree in accounting. MaryAnn worked at Hackley Hospital in the accounting department for 27 years, she retired in 2007. Mary Ann loved to spend time with her family, taking rides up north to eat at Boone’s with her son and other family, taking rides out by the lake and going out to breakfast with Russ, and she liked to go out with “the girls” for lunch each month while she was able. In her younger days, she loved to take her grandchildren on summer vacations. Her favorite pets were her 3 seal-point Siamese cats. She told many stories, mostly funny stories, and many of her stories were about her 3 Tawney’s. She was always so amused by the antics of these crazy kitties that were so dear to her and loved to share her stories about each one. Mary Ann was a wonderful, devout catholic woman. She had a quirky sense of humor that will be missed by all that were blessed to know her. As she got older, she even liked to play innocent pranks on those who were taking care of her. She was the sweetest, and a little sour at times, but when she loved, she loved with all her heart. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Russell (11/9/2021), her parents and grandparents, as well as many in-laws. Mary Ann is survived by her brother, Rudolph (Sonny) Hodits Jr.; her son, Timothy G. Stephenson (Barbara); her grandchildren, April Smith (Clair), and Joshua Stephenson (Andrea); her great-grandchildren, Emily, Christian, Madison, Joey, Jimmy, Neilah, Myrah, Kenleigh, Stacey, Josh, and Nick; her 12 great-great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Stephenson (Marlene), and many nieces/nephews; also, her kitty, Tawney the Third.
