Mary Anne Brock's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Anne Brock, age 92, formerly of Norton Shores, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 in Wyoming, Michigan. She was born in Danbury, Connecticut on January 13, 1925 to Smither and Carthine (Newman) Merrill. Mary Anne enjoyed volunteering at Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and was active in the League of Women Voters. She loved nature, wildlife, birdwatching and most recently, feeding the chipmunks and squirrels that visited her patio. She also enjoyed reading, tennis, golf, gardening and RV trips, especially to Mexico. On March 20, 1948, Mary Anne married Gerald L. Brock and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1997. She is survived by three children, Catherine Anne (Ronald) Gogas of Aurora, CO, Dr. Joseph Leland (Elizabeth) Brock of Montpelier, VT and Susan Ellen (Mark) Olree of Marne, MI; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Smither Merrill and one sister, Joanne Gilmore. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (1006 3rd St, Muskegon, MI 49440) with Fr. Patrick Finn presiding.
