Mary Lou Becklin's Obituary
Mary Lou Becklin, age 96, of Ravenna, passed away July 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was born on February 9, 1927 in Ravenna, the daughter of Ernest and Lucille (Ballman) Race. Mary Lou graduated from Ravenna High School in 1946. On June 26, 1948 she married Charles Elmer Becklin of Fruitport, MI. Mary Lou and Chuck had one son (the only child) David Charles Becklin who lovingly cared for her until the end.
Mary Lou’s ambition in life was to be good mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (GG). She loved being around family playing Bingo, Euchre, Shuffleboard and enjoyed family get-togethers and holidays. Her son, grandsons and great grandchildren were the legacy she was most proud of in her life. She enjoyed watching their lives and accomplishments in person. Mary Lou worked for 38 years at Lee Products in Coopersville, MI and countless hours on her family farm in Slocum, MI with her husband of 56 years. Later in life Mary Lou found her good friend Ross Gilbert and volunteered at the local American Legion with Ross. Making wine and socializing with the local community was a pleasure that Mary Lou enjoyed.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, David (Julie) Becklin; two grandsons: Robert (Lynn) Becklin and Brian (Michelle) Becklin; five great-grandchildren: Blake, Nolan, Grant, Brice, and Breelynn Becklin. This is the Becklin pod that Ross had spoken of through the years with Mary Lou.
Mary Lou’s final wishes were that no services be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Sherman Moore Post #297 American Legion, PO Box 302, Ravenna, MI 49451.
