Mary Ellen Bogen's Obituary
Mary Ellen Bogen, age 59, of Afton, Michigan, went to be with her Lord at 10:08 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Mary Riegler on June 10, 1959 to the late Donald Riegler and Marjorie Riegler (Cope) in Muskegon, Michigan. She married the late Brian Scott in 1980 and they had two daughters together. She was compassionate about horses and enjoyed mentoring and learning with her daughters through 4-H and the high school equestrian team. After her husband Brian’s death, she was fortunate to meet her best friend Ronald Bogen, and they married in 2009. They enjoyed traveling and enjoying the outdoors together and made a home in Indian River where they spent as much time together as possible. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Donald Riegler Sr.; her late in-laws, Herman and Sue (Pennington) Scott; her in-laws, Donald Bogen and Alberta (Ritter) Bogen; and her late husband, Brian Scott. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Bogen; daughters, Kimberly (Aaron) Barrett and Nicole (Kyle) Clarkson; stepsons, Royce (Renee) Bogen, Reise (Jennifer) Bogen, Rodney (Brittni) Bogen, and Reid (Leah) Bogen. She will also be remembered by her mother, Marjorie (Picard) Cope; her stepmother, Mary Riegler; her sister, Beth (Victor) Ross; and her brothers, Bruce (Allison) Riegler and Donald (Amy) Riegler Jr.; stepsister, Tracey (Jason) Kempton and stepbrother Don Robinson, along with many loving nieces and nephews. Mary leaves behind her very dear granddaughter, Alyssa, along with many grandchildren who adopted her as their own. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Montague United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Riegler officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Friday, August 31, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 and from one hour prior to her service on Saturday. Burial will take place in Hubbard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help offset final expenses.
