Mary L. Bovenkerk's Obituary
Mary L. Bovenkerk, age 65, passed away Saturday evening, May 26, 2012 following a brief illness. She was born July 6, 1946 to Edward and Greta (Baker) Bovenkerk in Muskegon, and was a life resident. Mary worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Knollview and later at Brookhaven for a combined 31 years. She had been a longtime member at the former First Reformed Church, and currently attended First Congregational Church. SURVIVORS include her sister, Betty (Roland) Genter of Roundhill, VA; special friend, Bart Taylor of Muskegon; 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Ruth (Cuni) Rivera, Reg (Cesca) Genter, Cathy (Jeff) Phipps, James (Jody) Bovenkerk; 6 great-nephews, 3 great nieces; 2 great-great nieces, 1 great-great nephew; and her very dear and special friend, Janice (Bovenkerk) Abbott of Muskegon. THE FUNERAL SERVICE for Mary will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 1, at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,The Sytsema Chapel,737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, 49442,(231) 726-5210 with Rev. Timothy D. VanderHaar officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery.
