Mary J. Brown's Obituary
Mary J. Brown, age 78, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, July 30, 2018. She was born on May 12, 1940 to Joseph and Florence (Jensen) Verschueren in Hart, MI. A lifelong resident of the Muskegon area, Mary worked as a wax inspector for 35 years at Arcronic. She married her first husband, Robert Brown, and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1985. Mary then married Roy Curtis on July 24, 1992 and they spent 25 years together. Mary was known as a strong-willed woman who always voiced her opinion. She cared deeply about her family and loved spending time with them, especially around the Holidays. Mary was a hard worker and enjoyed playing cards, reading and crocheting. Mary will be missed by her husband, Roy; children, Lynn (Pete) Do, Richard (Cindy) Brown, Randy (Charlotte) Brown, Roger (Tish) Brown and Rod Brown; step-children, Teresa (Todd) Dellit, Terry VanderSchuur and Curt (Rochelle) Curtis; daughter-in-law, Nancy Maycroft; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Bill) Kelley; sister-in-law, Gloria Verschueren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert; grandson, Chad Dellit; brothers, Clifford Verschueren and Robert Verschueren; and son-in-law, Larry Maycroft. Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be directed to a charity of choice or to the family. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1PM at Port City Church (3387 Heights Ravenna Rd.). Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave., 231-726-5210.
