Mary Abigail Burr Stearns, 84, passed away peacefully Friday, June 27, 2014 at her home in Grand Haven, Michigan. Mary was born in Grand Haven on November 27, 1929 to Ruth Abigail (Bos) and Milton E. Burr. She was the granddaughte Read Obituary
We were long time friends of Mary's from our West Orange days. Some of our fondest memories of her are from neighborhood parties where, if there was a piano available, Mary happily played song after song as we sang along till she begged for mercy to rest her tired fingers! There was also plenty of laughter to go around when we were together. As we went our separate ways, we continued to keep in touch and always looked forward to her Santa Claus Christmas cards! To know Mary was to love her and she will be missed. Our condolences and prayers go out to her special family.

To the many late nights of letting us high school kids come up to the house on Dogwood Road and hangout. Also for letting me use your station wagon to teach Elizabeth and Marcie C. how to parallel park in front of the house.

I really wasn't found of many teachers in my life, but Mrs Stearns was definitely a great teacher. From the cartridge pens to the piano in the class room you could not forget her. She was a great teacher and I am glad that I had the honor of being her student. Rest in peace Mrs Stearns and may god bless you and your family. Joe Alonzo
Mrs. Stearns was one of my favorite teachers ever. I loved learning new songs as she played the piano. Square Dancing in class was also a favorite. I'll never forget her smile, or how proud I was to have her in the audience when I made my Broadway debut in I Remember Mama. God bless you and your family Mrs. Stearns, you will be missed, but never forgotten.
