Mary L. Butler's Obituary
Mary Louise Butler, age 79, of Muskegon passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. She was born on July 12, 1942, in Columbia, Arkansas to her parents Tyree and Savanna (Poole) Butler, but she lived most of her life in Muskegon, MI. Mary worked for many years as a dietician at both Hackley Hospital and Brookhaven Nursing Home until she retired in 2005. Although she spent most of her career cooking for others, she still enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Mary was a very caring individual who always kept in touch with her loved ones, whether it was reminding them to bring the dogs inside or letting them know about incoming bad weather. Mary loved all her family members, but especially her grandchildren. She was very active at her Church, Fresh Manna Church of God in Grand Rapids, where she attended Bible Study and cooked for the congregation. Mary is survived by her daughter, Vicky Evans; son in-law, Apostle John Evans; four grandchildren: Jeremiaus (Alexis) Evans, Johnathan Evans, Merci Evans, and Miracle Evans; multiple great-grandchildren; two sisters: Shirley Pipkins and Diane Scott; her brother, Tyree Butler Jr.; and her close friend, Mother Ollie Jackson. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Eugene Butler. A memorial service for Mary will be taking place on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 2:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444). Visitation with the family will be taking place at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
