Ms. Mary C. Calkins' Obituary
Ms. Mary Christine Calkins, 76, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at her home in Whitehall. She was born April 23, 1938 to Marion J. and Mary Alice (Dion) Calkins in Muskegon, the first of 18 children, and lived all of her life in the Muskegon and Whitehall areas. She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague, enjoyed cooking and gardening, but most of all she loved her family. SURVIVORS include 3 children, James (Cheryl) Budd of Shelby, Julie Ann (Joel) Kruszynski of Whitehall, Mary Ann Krolczyk-Council of Fruitport; 8 grandchildren; 7 brothers, Frank, Daniel, Thomas, Richard, Joseph, William and Paul; 8 sisters, Kathleen, Alice, Sue, Patricia, Diane, Sally, Janice and Judy; and their families. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and 2 brothers, John and Gerard Calkins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church in Montague with the Rev. Fr. Peter Omogo presiding. Burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Mass at church.
