Mary J. Campbell's Obituary
Mary Jane Campbell, age 91, passed away in Fremont, MI, on Saturday, May 30, 2026. She was born in Muskegon on October 10, 1934, to Francis and Mary (Dangl) Kent and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1952. On August 14, 1954, she married Lewis McClain, and the two of them spent many wonderful years raising their family together until he preceded her in death in 1993. Mary worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, but most recently worked in the office of Kent Electrical Service, retiring in 1998. Mary was very involved with Fellowship Church, was a part of the Red Hat Society, and while she was wintering in Fort Myers, FL, she enjoyed volunteering at ECHO, a local nonprofit. Mary loved square dancing, singing, playing bunco, and going on family camping trips to Muskegon State Park. She was extremely outgoing, she loved to be surrounded by people and never met a stranger. Mary was always open to adventure and never hesitated to say what was on her mind. More than anything she loved spending time with her family.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Luanne (Bruce) LaBrie, Linda (Scott) Culver, Ernie (Pam) McClain, Mary (Frank) Staab, and Angela (Daniel) Ruiz; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary Kent; her first husband, Lewis McClain; her second husband, Bob Campbell; her third husband, Russell Winsemius; and all seven of her siblings.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Mary at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Fellowship Church, 4200 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
