Mrs. Mary Virginia Christiansen's Obituary
Mrs. Mary V. (Wilson) Christiansen, age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 peacefully surrounded by her family at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born in Chicago, IL, on March 3, 1920 to Herman and Alice (McGovern) Wilson, before moving to Muskegon. On February 4, 1939, she married John H. Christiansen and he preceded her in death on June 18, 1991. Mary was a homemaker for many years until her children were raised and then she became a loving teacher’s aide at Wesley School until her retirement. She was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, PFC Herman L. Wilson, and her sister, Pearl Meyer. SURVIVORS include her children, Sharon (Bob) Smith, Larry (Bernyce) Christiansen, Marilee Weller, Virginia Butler, and Barb (Joe) Sruba; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Maxine Christiansen; and many nieces and nephews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Antony Britto as celebrant. VISITATION will be held one hour prior, 10-11 AM Friday at the church. ENTOMBMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be directed to Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
