Mary Jane Curry's Obituary
Mary Jane Curry, age 93, passed away peacefully at The Sanctuary at McAuley in Muskegon on Monday, October 3, 2016. She was born June 19, 1923, to Leonard and Helen Stenberg during the time of the depression. Jane retired after 35 years of service with S.D. Warren Paper Mill in Muskegon (member of the United Paperworkers International Union Local 1015), during which time she made and maintained many friendships. Around the kitchen table, and with a sense of humor uniquely hers, she shared many memories of her younger years; memories of sibling adventures, family times and dancing the jitterbug across Lake Michigan under the stars on the Milwaukee Clipper. She loved “swing” band music, dancing, cooking (treasured family recipes still in use and passed on to the next generation), knitting, crossword puzzles and, most of all, time spent with her family. Her final years were spent comfortably and contently at home, under the loving care of her daughter Sheila, and her beloved caretaker, Lori. Through two marriages she is survived by the loves of her life, her six children: Suzanne (Mike) Harvey, Patricia (Bill) Fink, Debra (Gerry) Feeman, James E. Morton III, Pamela (James) Wood and Sheila (John) Amaya; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl (Fran) Stenberg; sisters, Ardis Liddle, Barbara Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clyde (Ellen) Stenberg and Charles (Henrietta) Stenberg; and brother-in-law, Fred Liddle. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Friday October 7, 2016 at 11AM at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Memorial Contributions can be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
