Mary L. deBoom's Obituary
Mary L. deBoom, age 91, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Seminole Shores Living Center. She was born on January 6, 1935, to Thomas and Rose (Huck) Jokerst in Detroit, MI. Mary was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Detroit, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Troy, MI before moving to Norton Shores in 1999 and joining the parish of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she had served on the funeral lunch committee. Prior to retirement and moving to West Michigan, she worked as a realtor for Century 21 Town and Country in Troy, MI, where she regularly became one of the top salespersons in the office. Mary also enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and going out to dinner with friends. Growing up in Detroit with three brothers, Mary became a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers throughout her entire life. She often ended conversations to family and friends with the familiar “Go Tigers.” On July 16, 1960, she married Edward deBoom in Detroit. He survives her, along with their three children, Susan (Derek) McColl, Edward (Kim) deBoom Jr., and Ann Henke; five grandchildren, Ben Henke, Rose Henke, Adriaan McColl, Emma McColl, and Parker Jensen. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter, Elizabeth, and three brothers, Earl, Donald, and James Jokerst. A private family service will be held in the spring. Memorials can be directed to Gentiva Hospice based in Grand Rapids, MI through the Gentiva Foundation website or to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Norton Shores, MI.
