Mary Katherine Doan's Obituary
Mary Katherine Doan, age 90, passed away unexpectedly after a brief hospital stay. Mary was born in Pulaski County Kentucky to Fred and Rosa (Maden) Williamson on August 11, 1933. She worked as a Nurse Aide at Brookhaven (in Muskegon) for 28 years. Mary was known and will forever be remembered for her gentle spirit, compassionate nature, hard work ethic, and genuine love for humanity. Mary had many Earthly passions, but one trait that rose above all the rest is her genuine love and loyalty for not only biological family, but the extended family, which came in the form of every person she met. The only activity she enjoyed just as much as feeding the spirit of others with her warm nature, was the ability to fill their bellies with her delicious foods. While Mary’s Earthly journey has come to a close, her compassion, presence, impact on others, and unwavering love will live on and her contributions will echo into eternity to be felt for generations to come. Mary is survived by 5 children Lewis Thomas Doan Jr (Bobbi Roberts), Mary (Larry) Messenger, Carmen Cole, Gary Doan, and Kim Perry, 1 son in law Don VanDyke, and 1 brother Wayne Williamson, and host of grandchildren and other family members. Mary was preceded in death by her loving Husband, Lewis Doan, Daughter, Barbara (Doan) VanDyke, Special Friend Cheryl Schwing. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 16, 2024 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, with Rev. Carlos Ramos officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Sign the online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com
