Mary Garbrecht's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Garbrecht, age 86, of West Olive passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at home. She was born June 8, 1931 in Grand Haven to Marion and Lillian (Carskadon) DuShane. On March 5, 1949 she married August Garbrecht in West Olive and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2016.
Mary was a member of West Olive Christian Reformed Church and was a Auxiliary member of the VFW Post 2328. She enjoyed baking, cake decorating and making candy. She was a Longaberger basket enthusiast, and in the past, she sold Stanley and Tupperware products. She enjoyed her family and will be missed.
She is survived by four daughters: Mary (Arthur) Hoek of Zeeland, Sally (Norm) Smith of West Olive, Diane Thedford of Lansing, and Karen (Roger) Helder of Hamilton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her beloved cat, Tom. She was preceded in death by two sons, August F. Garbrecht, Jr. and Gary Garbrecht.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 at West Olive Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Mark Stephenson officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be given to Hospice of Holland or Harbor Humane Society.
