Mary E. Hester's Obituary
Mary E. Hester, age 87, peacefully passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at her home. She was born September 12, 1933 in Muskegon to Pasquale and Amelia (Papucci) Bernardini and was a lifelong resident of the area. Mary worked 21 years as a caseworker for the Department of Social Services before her retirement. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she was quite active with the annual spaghetti dinners and volunteering her time. Mary was also active with the State Employees Retiree’s Association. She loved gardening, the beach, kids, camping, the outdoors and lunch with her girlfriends from high school. She also enjoyed traveling and attending theater plays. Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Mark) Evans, Gina Faino, and Lynette Hester; grandchildren, Terese (Anthony) Arevalo, Daniel (Kia) Evans, Lou (Nicole) Faino, Nick (fiancé, Nickii) Faino, Sam (fiancé, Erin) Faino; great-grandchildren, Keegan Williamsen, Maycen Williamsen, Connor Arevalo, Evelyn Evans, Jayden Hunt; her sister, Angie Moulds; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ron Faino, her parents, her brother, Angelo (Judy) Bernardini, her brother-in-law, David Moulds, and her companion Edward Bundza. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Road) with Rev. Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:30PM.
