Mary Cartier Hoeker's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Cartier Hoeker, age 61, passed away early Monday morning, March 25, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born January 5, 1958 to Robert P. and Virginia M. (Minnerick) Cartier in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. She had worked for Community Mental Health for over 24 years before retiring. She was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church, the Viking Lodge, and Mona Lake Boating Club. Mary was a proud University of Michigan graduate (Go Blue), and enjoyed motorcycling, traveling, skiing, boating and fishing. She loved having a good time with good friends. On April 24, 1999 Mary married Dan Hoeker, and he survives her along with 3 children: Robert, Anthony and Patrick Marsala; step-children: Bryan (Julie) Hoeker, and their son Sam, Christina (Eric) Grosvenor and their son Eddy, Laura (Anthony) Guitterez, and their sons Ryker and Jase; sister: Michelle (George) Rudolph III; in-laws: Doug (Paula) Hoeker, Linda (Tim) Ippel. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to give a special thankyou to Mary’s doctors for their guidance and support: Dr. Alguire (Johnson Family Cancer Center), Dr. Deveras (and staff in Florida), Dr. Marquart and Dr. Addison. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Wednesday, April 3, from 1-3 PM at the Viking Lodge, 3132 Lakeshore Dr. Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the NOAH Project in memory of her dog Luke.
