Mrs. Mary J. Hulka's Obituary
Mrs. Mary J. Hulka, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in Edmonds, Washington. She was born March 21, 1920 to Russell and Mary (Thome) Young in Muskegon, and lived most of her life here. On November 25, 1939 she married Martin Hulka, Jr., and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2000.
Mary was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church; she loved gardening, knitting, crocheting, and needlework. She especially loved taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She spent her last fifteen years in Washington State with her daughter, Janet. She joined the Crafty Ladies, knitting hats for premature babies. She was loved by all.
SURVIVORS include 3 children, Louise (David) Solosan, Janet (Scott) McLeod, William M. (Shannon Purdy) Hulka; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Rosemary Hulka, 2 sisters, Dorothy (Clifford) Stuberg and Ruth (Steve) Kuzyk, and 1 brother, James Young.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 2, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Muskegon, with the Rev.Fr. Norman Droski presiding. Burial will take place at Fruitport Cemetery. Visitation at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565 will be from 5-8 PM Friday, with the Rosary prayed at 5:00.
