Mary Lou Hunt's Obituary
Mary Lou Hunt, age 82, of Grand Haven passed away peacefully into her loving Saviors arms on Saturday, October 21, 2017. She was born August 15, 1935, in Muskegon, to Verna and Stanley Fleischer. Mary Lou married Craig Meier on May 6, 1961, he preceded her in death on June 29, 1980. She then married Robert Hunt in 1973, he preceded her in death in 1996.
Mary Lou was a member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Muskegon. Mary Lou worked for Bennet Pump, Lorin Industries, and was co-owner of M and K Kreative Designs as a wedding event decorator. Before retiring she worked for Dr. Meyer, DPM. She was an extremely gifted knitter and seamstress, sewing wedding gowns in her early years to special event dresses and costumes for her daughters and grandchildren. Mary Lou loved fashion, especially shoes, playing bridge, and a good cup of coffee.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Michelle (Rick) Mikkelson, Corey (Brian) Vliem, Jill Meier; three grandchildren: Marissa Mikkelson, Justin (Catherine Moroni) Vliem and Andrea Vliem; her brother, Jim (Jan) Fleischer; step-children, Linda (Hunt) Gardner, Christine Hunt, Kandy Hunt, Robin (Matt) Holzinger, Kim (Ray) Beebe; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Cynthia Hakes. Mary Lou’s family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the loving and caring staff at American House in Spring Lake and Hospice of Holland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Fr. Norm Droski officiating. Friends may meet the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, The VanZantwick Chapel. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
