Mary Jo Swanson's Obituary
Mary Jo “Jody” Swanson, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, in Grand Haven, Michigan. Jody was born on July 4, 1942, in Muskegon, MI to her parents Clyde and Rosie (Clymer) Graham. On July 6, 1963, she married the love of her life Lawrence D. Swanson in Grant, MI, and they lived together happily in Grant for 56 years until his death. Jody loved going out for breakfast and shopping, and she enjoyed picking up little things to give to people just to make them happy. In fact, giving was a big part of who Jody was. She loved cooking for her friends and family and would often take food to people who were under the weather or even just because. She had an extensive collection of angels that were displayed everywhere in her home. She loved angels, and she would often give angels from her collection to people just because she thought they needed one. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she enjoyed everything about Christmas. Decorating, making Christmas dinner, buying gifts, lots and lots of gifts. There were many things she enjoyed doing, but most of all she loved being with her family. She is survived by her children: Loribeth (Jim) Clark and Glenn Dean (Chuck) Swanson; grandchildren: Sara (Miguel) Bravo and Nicholas Swanson; her brothers and sisters: John Graham, David Dougan, Tom Dougan, Richard Dougan, Terry Dougan, Jerry Dougan and Sue Ylitalo. She is preceded in death by her parents: Clyde and Rosie Graham; and husband: Lawrence D. Swanson. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be on October 10, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the Grant Community Church, 115 W State Rd, Grant, MI 49327. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The American Cancer Society. Jody lost her husband to Cancer and would like to see a cure found so no one else has to suffer another loss because of Cancer. Arrangements through the Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI., 49442.
