Mary Johnston passed away peacefully on March 10 at Lakeshore Assisted Living Homes. She was born Mary Laczynski in Grand Haven on July 25, 1918. Mary attended Grand Haven public schools and graduated in 1935 from Grand Haven Hi Read Obituary
I first met Mary on a nice Christmas vacation in Florida that I had gone on with Dan and the family. She welcomed me like I was part of the family. She was such a comforting and warm person. I was also met her and her wonderful husband, Marshall one summer. She was a very lovely, gracious woman who meant a lot to me. My prayers are with the family.

Mrs. Malstrom was my favorite teacher at 10th Street School (now Handley) in LaPorte, IN. I would bring her flowers and little gifts and she was always so appreciative. She was a special teacher and person.
I was one of her 3rd grade students in 1964 at Tenth Street School (Handley) Mrs. Malstrom was the best teacher I ever had. She made learning fun, and really cared for each of her students. She will be missed
I was very sad to read about Mary . . . she and Marshall were good friends of my parents, Mary & Larry Gardner, and she always took the time to visit and bring soup when my Mom was so sick with cancer. Her kindness will always be remembered by our family and my thoughts and prayers go out to Mary's family during this difficult time.

Aunt Mary was a blessing to have you as an Aunt!! I could not have asked for better.. fond memories Going to the Oakland Zoo with you Walt & Derek & Erin.. spending time at the cottage with all the family hearing stories of growing up in Grand Haven..
Mom was the best mother-in-law that anyone could have had. She was always generous with her family, with lots of love to us and others. So many memories flood my mind at this time. Thanks for a life well lived.

The absolute best Grandma that we were so lucky to have. My favorite memories of our Mimi were all of the many summers we spent in Grand Haven...going to the musical fountain 1000 times, walking to the end of the pier, and helping to pick raspberries in her yard.
