Mary J. Katt's Obituary
Mary J. Katt, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, unexpectedly at home. She was born on October 7, 1956, to Jack and Betty (Stone) Coles in Muskegon, MI and has remained a lifelong resident. She attended Fruitport High School class of 1974. On August 27, 1983, she married the love of her life, Dennis Katt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together they cherished 39 years full of love and laughter. Mary had a compassionate heart and a true passion for helping others. She dedicated numerous years to the Hume Home before becoming a fulltime caregiver to many. Mary enjoyed spending her time watching the deer and hummingbirds playing in her garden or up North hunting with Dennis. She was a talented baker known for her delicious jams and zucchini bread. Above all, Mary loved her family fiercely, but nothing could compare to the love and bond she had with her grandchildren. She was known for her tender and generous nature, always welcoming others into her house with loving arms. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother, amazing sister and dear friend to many. She will truly be missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Katt; 3 children, Stephanie (Mike) Wabindato, Jennifer (Kyle) Jawor and Gerrit (Jenna) Katt; 7 grandchildren; Easton, Kinsley, Asher, Paislee, Krew, Hadley, Kaelyn, and baby Brynlee who is on the way; 7 siblings, Ivan (Doris) Coles, Tom Coles, Robert (Judy) Coles, twin brother, Frank (Becki) Coles, Betsy Coles, John Coles and Linda (Bob) Sheets, whom she held a special bond with; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Susan; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack (Betty) Coles. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with visitation one-hour prior. A visitation with the family will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the funeral home.
