Mrs. Mary Lou Piszczek's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Lou Piszczek, age 81, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 10, 2020. She was born on August 15, 1938 to Walter and Bessie (Scraver) Mayette in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Mary Lou married Robert Piszczek on May 15, 1970 and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2017. Mary Lou was a longtime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was a part of Al-Anon and engaged couples ministry at church and loved to sing in the choir. Mary Lou was a social butterfly and loved to be around others. Her sarcasm and sense of humor always made others laugh. She liked to stay busy baking, knitting, crocheting, and making her delicious chocolate fudge. Most of all, Mary Lou cherished the time spent with family. She enjoyed going camping and taking family vacations. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her children, Julie (Wayne) Jensen, David (Roberta Lyn) Piszczek, Robin Piszczek, Kevin (Leesa) Piszczek, Richard (Patricia) McKellar, Linda (Greg) Neiser, Mary Ann (William) Thornberry, Lori (Scott) Ellison and JoAnn (Steve) Peliotes; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Phillip Mayette and Walter Mayette; feline companion, Sadie; and her many friends at Sanctuary at the Oaks. Along with her husband, Bob, Mary Lou was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Beverly Backensto and Larry Mayette. An Outdoor Memorial Service will be held 2PM, Friday, July 17 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Memorial contributions in Mary Lou’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
