Mary Martha “Emmy” Cerniglia, age 28, passed away on May 16, 2015 (Nana’s birthday) at home surrounded by her earthly family as Jesus welcomed her to heaven. She was born on October 14, 1986 to Ted and Suellen (Blair) Cerniglia in Springfield, IL. Emmy was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She loved to serve others and helped in the family business. Emmy was an amazing giver and always knew the perfect gift in a time of need. SURVIVORS include her parents, Ted and Suellen, brothers, Samuel (Angie) Cerniglia and Nico Cerniglia; sisters, Sophia Cerniglia and Francesca Cerniglia and grandfather, Paul Cerniglia. She was preceded in death by grandmothers, Mary Cerniglia and Martha Matchem; uncles, Michael Blair and P.J. Cerniglia. MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (451 S. Getty St.) with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 7-8:30 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. (6291 S. Harvey St.). BURIAL will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
