To the Pipp family -- I had the pleasure of meeting both Ben and Mary when they moved to Grand Haven. I could not resist the urge to ask if Ben if he was related to the legendary Yankee first baseman, Wally Pipp (he was an All-Star who took a day off, only to be replaced by Lou Gehrig). To my great delight, Ben answered that Wally Pipp was his father -- and then regaled me with stories of meeting the legendary Yankees of that era, including Babe Ruth. And, Mary joined in with her memories of Grandpa Wally. Over several years, I had opportunities in interact with Mary and learned about her intense care, concern and love for her family. I am sure you will miss her greatly. You are in my thoughts today.

MY condolences to the Pipp offspring on Mary's death. She was a good friend and often a great hostess when Ben and she invited Rocky and me to their home, whether in Grand Rapids, Chicago, or Detroit. She surely did live life to the fullest, and she was a very caring person, loyal to her children and grandchildren, and aware of the needs of others. May your memories sustain you in your sorrow. May she rest ini peace.

Molly and family, We lived across the street when you resided in Grand Rapids and visited as your family moved to various cities with Ben’s career. I remember fondly sharing meals on the large patio in the backyard. Your mother was always a wonderful hostess. My deepest sympathies go out to your family. Dear Polly and family- Sorry to hear your Mom has passed. She lived life to the fullest and certainly showed her strength and love every minute God gave her.
