Mary Pronick's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Pronick, age 97, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Heartwood Lodge, Spring Lake, Michigan. She was born of Ukrainian decent, October 19, 1918 in Muskegon to Anthony and Anna (Didocha) Marchuk, and she resided in the area all of her life. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and belonged to their Altar Society. She worked at the Norge in Muskegon Heights and later with several catering services, she was a tireless worker and a great cook. On September 2, 1939, she married Egy Pronick and celebrated 66 years together. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2006. Mary could walk into a room full of strangers and leave with a room full of friends. Nothing made her happier than a house filled with company sharing her abundant hospitality. She had a wonderful sense of humor. With a fierce love of family and a deep spirituality, she embraced life’s happiness and was a comfort to many in times of sorrow. Mary will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. SURVIVORS include 2 children, John (Brenda) Pronick of Mt. Pleasant, MI and Maria (Gordon) Schmidt of N. Canton, OH; 5 grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Wilson, Blake Pronick, Christopher (Kelsey) Pronick, Kyle Pronick and Katie Schmidt; 3 great-grandchildren, Gavin and Regan Wilson and Jayden Pronick; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Anna Marchuk; husband, Egy in 2006; infant twins, Tommy and Maria in 1956; son, Robert Pronick in 1994; brother, Peter (Ann) Marchuk; and sisters, Olga (Ralph) Viditich and Stella (Bill) Perry. A special thank you from the family to her niece, Barb Dumont and the staff at Heartwood Lodge for the loving care that they provided. The MASS of CHRISTIAN burial will be Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (150 E. Summit Ave. Muskegon Heights) at 11 AM with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. There will be a showing at 10 AM Tuesday prior to the Mass at church. VISITATION with the family will be 4-7 PM Monday, February 22, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100.
