Mary Louise Sabo's Obituary
Mary Sabo, age 90, passed away on June 1, 2024, at Baldwin House in Spring Lake. Mary was born in Grand Haven on November 15, 1933, to John and Louise Melcher. She married Steve Sabo on October 25, 1952. Mary was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nunica for 52 years. The things that brought her joy were cooking for her family, planting flowers, having coffee with friends, playing the accordion (in her younger days) and cheering on the Detroit Tigers.
Mary had a contagious personality with patience and kindness ruling her heart and guiding her behavior. She had a gift of making others feel comfortable and welcome. If you entered her home as a stranger, you left as a friend.
Mary is survived by her children: Dennis (Rochelle) Sabo, Greg (Mary) Sabo, Brian (Lisa) Sabo, Joe (Linda) Sabo, John (Cindy) Sabo and Dawn (Graham) Howe.
Her grandchildren: Sara (Bob) Ford, Katie (John) Delisa, Stephanie Sabo, Adam (Katelynn) Sabo, Jessica (Jordan) Worel, Steve (Tara Gragg) Sabo, Chris (Rachel) Sabo, Tony Sabo, Jencen, Carter and Rylee Sabo, Sidney Sabo, Alec (Kendra) Howe, Spencer (Ashley) Howe, Peyton Howe. Jason (Tara) Sabo, Chandra (Art) Anderson, Logan (Amanda) Sabo, Marley Sabo.
Great grandchildren: Kenna and Emma Ford. Charlie Reuterdahl and Gregory Worel, Ida and Arthur Sabo, Charlotte Sabo, Cade and Harper Howe, Heath and Oliver Howe, Hannah and Evan Sabo, Walker and Mazie Anderson, and Aria Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, son, Gary, granddaughter, Samantha Stebbins, and her brother, Jack Melcher.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the Harbor Hospice team, in particular, Kim, Christine, Erin, Chaplain Curtis and Dr. Fulton. A private family service will be held at Lakeshore Cemetery in Grand Haven. Memorials can be made to Harbor Hospice or a charity of your choice.
