Mary C. "Char" Smith's Obituary
Mary C. Smith (Char), age 77, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, April 15, 2020. She was born on October 20, 1942 to Mabery and Clara (Collins) Bell in Vero Beach, Florida. On October 12, 1962, she married the love of her life, Rodger Smith at Unity Reformed Church where she has remained a member. Together they cherished 57 years of marriage. She received her degree from Muskegon Business College. Her clerical career included Muskegon Police department secretary and deputy clerk, as well as credit union loan officer. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending her time reading, crocheting, and being Rodger’s copilot at many car shows and motorcycle trips. She loved the outdoors and camping with her family at her favorite spot, Ludington State Park. She was a lovely woman, who will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband, Rodger; 2 children, Ronald (Kerri) Smith and Daniel (Marcia) Smith; 4 grandchildren; Dakota, Derek, Madison, and Ryan; sister, Pamela (Paul) Ronning and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Maxine Schmeling.
