Mary Ann Spahr's Obituary
Mary Ann Spahr, age 86, of Grand Haven, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at a local care facility. She was born December 10, 1926 to Philip Bernard and Lucille (Rademaker) Hipskind in Marion, Indiana.
Mary Ann was valedictorian of her graduating class at Bennett High School in Indiana. She was employed as a project administrator for the Army Corps of Engineers in Ohio for 22 years. Mary Ann was very interested in current events and was an avid reader. She loved classical music, dancing, collecting baskets and historical memorabilia.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Paula Spahr of Colorado Springs, CO; her son, Philip (Arlene) Spahr of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Jessica (Chad Lemmen) Spahr of Holland, MI and Nathan (Kim Wilkerson) Spahr of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 sisters: Pauline Libengood of Hillsdale, MI, Barbara Zimmerer of Kokomo, IN and Sally Vollmer of Indianapolis, IN; 2 brothers, Thomas Hipskind of Logansport, IN and Joseph Hipskind of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, John Hipskind.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel DePew presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions in honor of Mary Ann may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
