Mary J. Spetoskey's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Julia Spetoskey, age 97, passed away peacfully early Sunday, January 17, 2016.
She was born May 08, 1918 in Muskegon Heights to Anthony and Kathryn (Homa) Barr and had been a life resident of the area. On June 10, 1939 she married Vernon Spetoskey in Muskegon Heights and he preceded her in death on January 02,1999. Mrs. Spetoskey worked at SD Warren Papermill where she retired in 1983 after 21 years of service. Mrs.Spetoskey was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and a longtime member of the Altar Society.
Mary loved to cook, play cards, listen to Saturday Polka’s and being with her family.
Mary is survived by children, Jerome (Marilyn) Spetoskey of Colorado, Nancy Engle of Roosevelt Park, Genevieve “Sparkey” Spetoskey of Roosevelt Park, Richard (Debrah) Spetoskey of Grand Haven, Steven (Pamela) Spetoskey of Norton Shores.
16 grandchildren, Karen (Mart) Becklin, Jill (John) Skoceles, Kathy (Drew) Morris, Julie (Sam) Harter, Kim (Garry) Sparks, Lori Deneen, Becki (Joe) Kelly, Kirk (Tracy) Deneen, Jamie (Gary) Graham, Ryan (Emily) Spetoskey, Leah Engle, Alesha (Brian) Wozny, Angela Reagan, Susan Spetoskey, Marc Spetoskey, and Ben (Heather) Spetoskey. 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rose Byrnes and Bernice Kling. 2 sister in laws, Ellen Mumah and Esther Garbow. Mary was preceded in death by 2 daughters Maxine Rutkowski, Carolyn Deneen. Her Parents, 3 brothers, Andrew, Thaddeus and Martin. 4 sisters, Sophia Buck, Anna Barr, Victoria Langlois, Magdelene (Pat) Spoelhof.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00am.at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Norman Droski presiding. Burial will be in St.Mary Cemetery. Visitation at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565 from 2 – 4pm and 6:00 – 8pm on Friday, January 22, 2016, with the Rosary prayed 5:30 PM.
