Mary L. Strate's Obituary
Mary Louise Strate, age 92, passed away on September 4, 2018. She was born on July 26, 1926 to Roger and Alma (Bisson) Hallstrand in Muskegon. On September 5, 1947 she married Mark D. Strate and they spent 61 happy years together until his passing in October of 2008. Mary was a true inspiration to many. She was full of energy and had a wonderful work ethic. Up until her last months, she took meticulous care of her garden and lawn at her home. She was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, and she loved her church family. Mary is survived by her children, Marcia Strate of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, David (Cathy) Strate of Muskegon, Michigan; grandchildren, Ashley Strate, Mailani Souza; great-grandchild, Keanu LaChance; and sister, Rita Lauretti. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark, siblings, Richard Hallstrand and Doris Smith. VISITATION with the family will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:30 PM. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Rd.) at 11:00 AM with Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding, with visitation one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name can be made to either Prince of Peace or the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
