Mrs. Mary Ann (Parlapiano) Cerniglia, age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Sanctuary at McAuley in Muskegon. She was born May 16, 1920 in Rockford, IL to Rosario and Lillian (Rotello) Parlapiano. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Muskegon and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Rockford, IL. On July 15, 1945, she married Paul J. Cerniglia, Sr. in Rockford and he survives her along with 4 children, Kathie O’Connell of Park Forest, IL, Georgianna Cerniglia of Springfield, IL, Ted (Suellen) Cerniglia of Muskegon, Mary Marthy Cerniglia of Peoria, IL; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Joseph Parlapiano of Rockford, IL; 1 sister, Teresa (Cono) LaLoggia of Rockford, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul J. Cerniglia, Jr., her parents, and 2 sisters, Martha Parlapiano and Josephine Delahanty. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford, IL 61102 with Rev. Fr. Anthony Labedis presiding. INTERMENT will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Rockford. VISITATION with Mary’s family will be 3:30-6:30 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 South Harvey Street (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM Thursday.
