Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Ennenga's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Ennenga went to be with her Lord and her husband Bob (who preceded her in death) late Thursday evening, December 30th, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Beth was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 8th, 1926, to Arch and Elizabeth (Howland) Capel. She lived in Little Rock and attended Little Rock Central High School. She went on to attend Arkansas State Teachers College where she met her lifelong friend, Betty Funk, who also preceded her in death. Beth left college for a time and became a supervisor at a local YWCA. She served in that capacity for three years until she went to work as an office manager for the American National Life Insurance Company. Beth met her future husband, Robert Ennenga, while he was stationed at Camp Robinson just outside of Little Rock. He later was deployed overseas and she completed her college education. They were long distance friends for almost seven years until they married in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 16th, 1952. They made their home in the Grand Haven/Spring Lake area for most of their life together except for a period of seven years when they moved to Baltimore, Maryland as Bob was a teacher and transferred from the Ferrysburg and Grand Haven school system. They returned to Spring Lake in 1968.
Beth is survived by a son, Ben (Karen) Ennenga of Grand Haven; daughter, Barbara Shope of West Monroe, Louisiana; and very special long-time friend, Faye Ann Russell of Grand Haven. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Leigh (Larry) Louzon of Grand Haven, Aaron Redding of Grand Rapids, Kelly (Josh) Lathwell of Spring Lake, and Christopher Ennenga of West Monroe, Louisiana; along with four great-grandchildren: Reese and Noah Louzon and Ainsleigh and Kylan Lathwell.
A memorial service will be held at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church on Thursday, January 6th, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jen Porter officiating. Friends may meet the family at a luncheon following the service. Memorials to Love INC, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Hospice of North Ottawa Community are appreciated.
The family is being served by VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home of Spring Lake. You are invited to share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
