Mary Jane Johnson's Obituary
Mary Jane Johnson, age 62, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Hackley hospital. She was born August 4, 1943 in Grand Haven to William Albert and Jane Lorraine (Wessel) Rowell. On January 26, 1963 she married Gerald (Gary) Johnson in Grand Haven.
Mary Jane was a life resident of Grand Haven and had been employed with Steketee’s as office manager in both Grand Haven and Holland. She also worked for the Grand Haven School system as a paraprofessional. Mary enjoyed her family, gardening, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband Gerald (Gary), two daughters: Tracy (Jeff) Stevens of Ann Arbor, MI; Wendy (Bill) Haines of Slidell, LA; one son, Sam (April) Johnson of Rincon, GA; 5 grandchildren: Samantha, Noah and Bailey Haines; Lydia Stevens and Boss Johnson. Also surviving are a brother William Rowell of Brohman, MI and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents William A. and Jane L. Rowell.
A Funeral Service for Mary Jane will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at VanZantwick, Bartels, Kammeraad in Grand Haven with Rev. Thomas Cook officiating. Interment will be at Lake Forest cemetery. Friends may meet the family Monday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials to The American Cancer Society are appreciated.
