Mary Jane Kruzel's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Jane Kruzel, age 79, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Poppen Residence. She was born February 11, 1930 in Muskegon to Joseph and Mary (Baron) Skocelas, and resided here her entire life. Mary Jane was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, and belonged to the St. Julius Circle and Altar Society. She served the church for many years by helping on funeral luncheons. Mary Jane was a loyal Detroit Tiger and Michigan Wolverine fan, loved Polka music, baking and shopping with her sisters, and enjoyed playing cards. On May 19, 1951 she married Leo Kruzel, and they celebrated 53 beautiful years together before he preceded her in death on September 15, 2004. SURVIVORS include 7 children, Joseph (Ilene) Kruzel, Richard (Patty) Kruzel, Donald Kruzel, David (Robin) Kruzel, Tom Kruzel, Michael (Meta) Kruzel, and Mary Jo (Scott) Thumser; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Joseph Skocelas, Edward (Pauline) Skocelas, and Fritz (Jan) Skocelas; 2 sisters, Bernice Stibitz and Ann Meister; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Aaron R. Ferris presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with the Rosary being prayed at 6 PM. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Harbor Hospice or St. Thomas Funeral Luncheon Group will be appreciated.
