Mary Maxine Tobey's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Maxine Tobey, age 81, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2003. She was born September 5, 1920 in Saginaw, MI to Frank and Mildred (Grover) Thurston and on April 13, 1936 was adopted by Omer H. and Maretta Nordman living most of her life in the Muskegon area. On September 13, 1952, she married T. Claude Tobey in Indiana and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1995. She was a member of the Women’s Guild at General Hospital. She was a life-member of the Muskegon Motorcycle Club and the women’s auxiliary. She was also a life-member of the American Motorcycle Association. SURVIVORS include son, Nihl (Marilyn) Brannam of Baldwin, MI, step-daughter, Glory Ann Brown of Muskegon, step-son, Dalen (Linda) Tobey of Muskegon, daughter, Kay Tobey of Muskegon, 2 daughters-in-law, Irene Farmer of Washington and Vivian Brannam of Hesperia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bill (Marge) Gray of Benton Harbor, MI; special family friend, Karen Scraver. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Sidney and Wyant Brannam, 1 step-daughter, Doreen Pritchard, and 1 step-son-in-law, James Brown, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with the Rev. Ronald Rands officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Mary’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. MEMORIAL GIFTS may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
