Mary Ruth Gardner's Obituary
Mary Ruth Gardner, age 79, passed away in Muskegon, Tuesday morning at Hackley Hospital following a short illness. Mary was born in Kent City, Chester Twp. On December 11, 1930 to Herbert and Violet May (Gilbert) Strohm. She moved to Muskegon with the family when she was a young lady and on October 21, 1949 married Mr. John R. Gardner. Mary was a member of Crestwood United Methodist Church and retired from Muskegon Public Schools in 1992. She is survived by her: husband, John; two daughters, Marian (Phil) Perry of Twin Lake and Loraine (George) Rogers of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Angela St. Croix (Mike), Phil Perry (Mike), Derek Perry (Rebecca) and Dustin Perry; 4 great-grandchildren, Kailey, Taylor, Ashley & Michael; one brother, Gilbert (Violet) Strohm of Muskegon and close friend, Robert Hadley of Detroit. Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by: infant son, Loren in 1950, brother, Herbert Strohm in 2001 and sister, Ardith Pike in 2005.
